The Maker's Wheel is a membership-based community workshop in Ogden, Utah. Think of it like a gym, but for creative people. Your monthly membership gives you access to professional tools — laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC routing, sewing machines, sublimation equipment, and more — without having to own any of it.
Founding Members are the first 20 people to join The Maker's Wheel. They lock in $35/month for the life of their membership — a rate that never increases. Regular Crafter memberships start at $50/mo when we open. Founding Members start with staffed-hours access and earn 24/7 keyholder access after 60 days — the same path as Artisan members, at the Founding rate. They also get named recognition in the space, first place on the studio rental waitlist, and an invitation to our soft-launch preview. No payment is collected until we open.
Not yet. Founding Member spots are reserved now, but no payment is collected until we open our doors. We'll give you advance notice before your first payment is due.
Crafter ($50/mo) gives you access during all staffed hours. Artisan ($70/mo) adds 24/7 keyholder access — you can come in during unstaffed hours whenever you need to. If you want to make at 10pm on a Tuesday, Artisan is the plan for you. Keyholder access requires 60 days of active membership plus all required certifications.
Yes. Day passes ($22) and walk-in rates ($15/hour) are available when we open. Bring a friend and they can join you with a guest pass ($10). Consumable materials are separate for drop-in guests.
No. We're planning month-to-month membership with no minimums at launch. We want the space to earn your continued membership, not lock you in contractually.
Yes. The Kids' Corner is designed for young makers and is included with your membership. Children must be accompanied by a member and supervised at all times. Age-appropriate projects and guided materials are available in the Kids' Corner. We'll also offer dedicated youth classes — check the Programs page for updates.
Six private studio spaces (~150 sq ft each) are available for members who need dedicated space — for a project run, a week of focused work, or ongoing monthly use. Studios are lockable during your rental period. All shop equipment is still available to you as part of your membership.
Studios are available by the day (~$30–40), week (~$100), or month (~$300). Monthly studio use is also bundled into the Pro Studio membership ($300/mo), which includes full membership benefits. Pricing is subject to change before launch.
Monthly studio rentals require at least a Crafter membership (or Pro Studio membership). Daily and weekly rentals may be available on a drop-in basis — reach out to discuss your situation.
No prior experience is required for most equipment. Some tools require a brief orientation or certification before first use, but these are free for members. Open-use tools (hand tools, fiber arts, paper crafts, general workbenches) have no requirements at all — pick them up and start making.
Certifications are required for: laser cutters (Glowforge Pro, xTool P2), CNC router (Shapeoko 5 Pro), industrial sewing machine (Juki), and all 3D printers. Brief orientations (not full certifications) are required for: Janome sewing machines, Cricut, heat press, sublimation printer, and the Tippmann Boss leather stitcher. Certifications are free for members and scheduled regularly.
Certifications are practical sessions, not tests. For 3D printers, it's focused on equipment care — proper filament changes, bed leveling, and how to avoid damaging the machines. For lasers and CNC, it covers safe setup, material selection, and operating procedures. The goal is protecting you and the equipment, not gatekeeping.
Yes. Equipment reservations will be available through our online system when we launch. High-demand equipment (lasers, CNC, 3D printers) will be reservable by members. Details on the scheduling system will be published before opening.
Most equipment requires members to bring their own project materials — fabric, leather, wood, acrylic, and similar supplies. Common shared supplies in the Cozy Corner, Kids' Corner, and general craft areas are stocked and available to all members. Materials are also sold in the space for convenience. High-use shared equipment like the poster printer has posted session limits to keep things fair. Day-pass guests purchase materials separately.
That's entirely up to the instructors. Classes at The Maker's Wheel are proposed and run by local craftspeople — they set the topic, format, schedule, and pricing. It could be a one-time workshop, a multi-week course, a drop-in session, or anything else. As instructors sign on, their offerings will be posted. Members get discounted rates; guests pay standard pricing.
Yes — that's exactly who we want to hear from. Instructors keep 70% of class revenue and have complete control over their curriculum, format, and schedule. We provide the space, equipment, and members. Reach out through the contact page and let us know what you'd teach.
The class and event area is available for private bookings. Reach out to discuss availability and pricing.
